Happy Halloween!

And Happy Birthday to my Mommy.

I do not celebrate Halloween all that often. The last time I did was in 2011. It isn't my kind of holiday.

World of Coca ~ Cola

After the conference, Danielle and I went to check out World of Coca Cola. We tried a bunch of weird flavors of Coke from all over the world. Good memory.

National Black MBA Association

Just in case you do not know job hunting sucks. I went to Atlanta with a bunch of my classmates to try to make our marks on companies and find a job. Time for bed. Goodnight.

Fat Matt's Ribs

Mike picked up Danielle and I from the airport in Atlanta and took us out for dinner. He took us to a place mentioned on the Food Network. It was quite decent even though I am not a fan of barbecue.

CSCMP Scholarship Dinner

I have applied for tons of scholarships, but never won one. Well, at least not until my semester of graduate school. Of course, Martin won it too.

Improv Class

There were some interesting classes that I had to take for graduate school. One of them was an improv class. It was meant to help us practice being spontaneous and our interviewing skills. It was fun as you can tell from the pictures; but, it was not my kind of class.

Salsa Night

I have always liked ballroom dancing. For the past couple of years, there has not been  an opportunity to pick it back up. Maybe that is a another change I may consider for the future.

MBA Event

There a bunch of good memories created during graduate school. Student services were always good about holding events for get togethers and  happy hours. I liked how I used the sequins on the bingo cards to shape the number one to form the year of this event.

Addicted to my Mini

Martin got me one of the greatest gifts ever. I never anticipated I would use it so much, but I use it for everything!

My Cousins

My family is quite big on both sides. It just seems to only get bigger as the years go on.

Beautiful Ann

Cousin Ann was very pretty on her wedding day. It was fun to see cousins for different side of the family be together. The blue circle frame fit perfectly over the photo I snapped for Ann and Chris.

Great Falls Park

If Martin didn't look up what parks were near me, I probably would not have discovered this little treasure in my backyard. We went on a hike along the river. Because of good company and great conversation two hours flew.

Cherry Blossom Season

This is another layout about my crazy morning for the sunrise in D.C. I went by myself; so please excuse my selfie. Considering that I took it myself, it doesn't seem half bad. I really like the pinks of the page. I am really glad I didn't miss out on the cherry blossoms.

4:30 AM alarm

As I try harder and harder to keep up with these posts, I am realizing that I am not cut out for content writing. I had wanted to give up on this blog months ago. For the life of me, I cannot remember why I decided to continue. But there are going to be changes how my futures entries will be presented. The writing content is going to slowly decrease to just a picture of my layout. I have made a goal to myself to reach 400 posts , but I never said how long the posts had to be.

I have decided to not stick with the stereotype of having long entries about what products I used and how I made the page. This is a hobby and it is something I enjoy. The blog has made it more of a chore and I know that barely a handful of people read this. So relating to a recent article I read about quitting something every Thursday - the point to get rid of something that is taking up your time and energy - I have decided to cut back on the writing about  my page.

This page is about the day I woke up at 4:30 am to drive myself in D.C. to check out the cherry blossoms. It was #soworthit. One more thing: it costs a lot to have pictures that are in shades other than 4x6. So I printed two 4x6s and covered up the division with flowers. I like the fake panorama photo across the 12x12 page.

Cafe Amelie on Royal Street

I enjoy meals that we have in pretty places. Cafe Amelie was definitely one of them. It is simple and classy. The weather was gorgeous that day ; we decided to be seated outside to enjoy a nice brunch in their garden nook.

I really like the random layers and scattered look to the page. These Polaroid frames are the cutest. I framed the outdoor seating area at Cafe Amelie. The business card is also part of the layout. All the pieces were pulled different pieces from different collections to create the whole look.

Central Grocery's Muffuletta

I had a few great recommendations from Grams for New Orleans. One of them was to have a muffuletta at Central Grocery- it is where the muffuletta was first served and created. The sandwich has olives in it which I am not a fan of. However, in this case, it was not so bad. Always up for trying something new every now and then. Especially, if it is super yummy.

Jersey Girl

Being raised in New Jersey, there are many things I take for granted. One would be that there is someone to help put gas in my car when I pull up to a gas station. When I moved down to Virginia, I had to learn how to pump my own gas, which is a totally new experience. Thank goodness I was smart enough to ask the boyfriend to teach me before I was officially on my own to fend for my own gas. I made a page about this because it was definitely a learning experience I wanted to document.

Catching Up

I love catching up with friends. That seems to be mostly what I do outside of work, other than scrapbook. And I love it. Life has been more routine lately. Get up, go to the gym, go to work, go home, eat, sleep and repeat. Occasionally, you can throw in a dinner plan or a get together over the weekend. I believe it gets harder and harder to maintain friendships nowadays. Even though there are so many forms of social media to keep in touch; it is mostly meant for people that barely know you and care little enough to just breeze through your status updates. The real friendships are the ones that you want to keep and maintain. And I am sad to say that there are fewer people nowadays that want to even bother staying in touch.

For some reason, when I need to runaway somewhere, I run away to go see Grams. I have not done that in a while which is a good thing - to not have to run away. The last time I visited Grams, I met up with a few friends. Above is a picture of one of those instances.

Blessed

It starts getting difficult to figure new ways to use the same thing. I encounter this challenge when I still had some left over semi-circles after two pages of them. This time, the circles were to frame the picture and the border of the card stock. I wrote my journaling around the semi-circle frame. The page is about how every now and then, I remember how blessed I am to be able to travel. I don’t get to travel often but I have gone to a few nice places on my own dime. Of course, it would be more lovely to have someone else pay for it; but these moments were earned by me.

Hello, Switzerland.

I had a ton of left over circle punches  when I made the ‘You and Me Happy Together’ page that I tried to use them up in the next two layouts. In this one, the semi-circles are made into banners being hung in all directions of the page. In between the semi-circles, I tried to also use up some more brads.  The geo-tag is from The Pier collection. This one saids 'hello'; placing it next to Switzerland makes the title. It is a very simple layout, but I like it.

It's the Small Details

I am not sure if I will understand why I enjoy secretly snapping photos of him on his phone. It tends to usually be when I am shopping and he is just sitting around waiting for me. There has got to be some made up statistic about how much time men wait around for women while they shop. Don't worry girls, I am sure there is also a statistic about how much time women wait around for men to mature too. This was snapped during our long weekend to Asheville, N.C.

I took one of Dear Lizzy's 5th and Frolic 6x6 papers and cut up the chevrons to make arrows. The arrows are direct towards Martin, bringing attention to the photo which has also been framed by a Capture collection frame. Wood veneer arrows were added for dimension.

You and Me Happy Together

We had lots of professional photos taken on our trip to Hawai’i. I had them printed so I could scrap with them over a longer period of time. This time I pick one with us just walking on the beach. I scrap-lifted this layout from Paige Evans. I love her use of color and patterned paper. So I picked one collection and that was Crate Paper’s Fourteen Color. It has all the lovely pinks and turquoise with grays that you can image. I liked how the half layered circles brought focus to the photo. It looked like a dimensional flower. And instead of painting a fractional circle on the other side of the page, I cut one out from the backing of the packaging of the dimensional stickers from The Pier collection. It has the perfect notebook lines for me to write my journaling on. I need those lines because my journal would be extremely crooked without them. The dimensional stickers had sentiments that helped create the title. This one is definitely one of my favorites.

Blue Hill @ Stone Barns

For our second anniversary, we celebrated with a mini trip to Upstate New York with a recommendation from Grams. We stayed at the Tarrytown Estate; the room we first had was not in ideal conditions. But they made it up in the end. The next morning we went to Blue Hill at Stone Barns and walked around. Of course, we got lost roaming on the farm and of course I whined a lot. But in the end, Martin led us back to the cafe and all was good once again.

I do wish that we could spend our third anniversary together. But it's only for two years - only 689 days to go!

Happy Three Year Anniversary!

Three years ago today, I went on a date. Since that date, so much has changed.

I have been saving the pattern paper for something special. This was a very special day. I used a lot of new product that I had gotten at the time. Some are from Dear Lizzy's Lucky Charm and Amy Tangerine's Yes Please.
