For My Reader

So for those of you that aren't in my area, we are having a very snowy winter. I think snow is only good when classes are cancelled; other than that, it really sucks. Instead of using the time of my cancelled night class for studying, I decided I needed a break and scrap-booked instead. I made a few layouts and I am still going at this hour, while my sweet roommate is studying until 2 am for her 8:40 am exam tomorrow. I don't even think anyone really reads my blog, the only person I know that checks whenever I update is my awesome friend Sindhu. So I decided to dedicate this post to her.

I made this page two weeks ago when Sindhu and I decided to have a scrap-booking date. For those of you that do not know Sindhu, her favorite color is purple. Can't you tell? Her shirt in the picture is purple too. I thought this was a cute picture of us when we went to Sacramento for the Tau Beta Pi Convention.  We did a little shopping before our scrap-booking date, and we got this fuzzy pattern paper at this cute scrap-booking store called Scrappers Cove. We also went to Michaels to take advantage of the dollar deals; that is where I got the big blue flower. The ribbon is a little blurry because it was a little too far for the scanner to pick up clearly, but it saids "Cute as a Button". Usually that saying is meant for babies, but I think Sindhu and I are definitely "Cute as a Button" in our own way.

21st Birthday

Like most of my birthdays, I love it when it is big. But this picture was of the after party. A few friends went with  me to a bar called Clydz. I can tell you that I tried a bunch of drinks and nothing worked well for me. I disliked most of the ones they ordered for me; not their fault, it’s just that I do not really like beer.

I really like scrapping this picture; I would not have thought of having this particular group in the picture.  I really wanted to use the clears that I got in my basket full of goodies. I also love the little swirl gems that I got for a dollar at Michaels. Isn’t it pretty?

Stage Left

As a little girl, I always loved celebrating my birthday. My parents were pretty awesome accommodating my wishes. Every year I had a pretty large gathering at the house or out at a recreation location. But recently, my Godfather takes me out to nice restaurants for my birthday. This was last years at New Brunswick’s famous Stage Left. It was so good, and I loved how they use local ingredients.

I titled this Special Day because every day that I spend with my Godfather is a special day.  He makes me feel special and really treats me like his own daughter. Though I did learn to not use just a pen for journaling. You cannot see it very well.

MM Ribbon Challenge- Feb 15

So for this week, Making Memories design challenge was to create a layout using ribbon as a way to secure or attach something to your page.

I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do. I really wanted to use the MM clear flowers and the MM clear over the picture; but I couldn’t figure how to attach it without ruining it with glue.  So I decided to thread it with ribbon, similar to how I did it on my Special Day Layout.  I punched two holes, and then asked myself then what? My inspiration came from a swing. I took two balsa sticks and made it like the branch on a tree. Then I hung the photo from ribbon. The ribbon was awesome because I didn't have to ruin the picture or clear with the glue. Of course I love my flowers, so I surrounded it with foam flowers like they were garlands. Aren't my niece and little cousin adorable? Comes with the family genes.

The Lion King

I can't seem to fall asleep tonight. So I decided to scan more of my layouts. My poor roommate is sleeping, tired from all that studying she is constantly doing. I hope I do not wake her up scanning stuff.

I love musicals, but I have never been to a Broadway before. My Godfather did the sweetest thing for me last winter to cheer me up. He took me to my first Broadway show: The Lion King.  It was an amazing experience.  I had nothing to compare it to or have any idea what to expect. The set, the scenery and music was superb. I would so recommend those that haven’t gone to a Broadway to GO!

Take the Leap

Happy Valentine's Day
So I finally got myself a scanner this weekend! When I was searching, I was silly enough to look for one that would be able to scan 12x12 page. Thank goodness there are smarter people out there! Who knew Photoshop could do so much.

I got a whole bunch of new scrapbooking materials fr Christmas/Hannukah. My Godfather had bought my  la carte at Cropchocolate.com. I would recommend this site too all scrapbook lovers. ( Please say “Mandy Szeto” recommended you if you sign up and purchase items). Great deals are on this site all the time.

I have never taken a jumping picture before. The picture is of Joyce, Pearl and me when we went to Maine for one of those really boring family vacations. We tried super hard to make it fun for ourselves. The picture symbolized taking a leap of faith. I used the clears by Making Memories to express the words Experience Life. Sometimes I feel like I haven’t done that enough. So hopefully this last semester will be filling up with good memories.

Just a Touch

So my little cousin's birthday is sometime this week. We are going to celebrate it along with our Chinese New Year dinner this Saturday night. My mom had a great idea of me decorating this plain metal frame for her. Since we are all in the Valentine's Day mood, I made it with the Pink./Red / Flower theme in mind. I do a few gifts that aren't scrapbooking related every now and then. I thought I would share this one with everyone.
